About Us....

The Shreveport Womens Golf Association was formed in 1933 for the purpose of promoting good fellowship and friendly competition among local amateur women golfers. Ladies in this association (SWGA) must have a handicap index of 30.0 or less.

Our sister group, the Shreveport Senior Womens Golf Association, was created for the same purpose, but includes only ladies who have reached at least their fiftieth birthday.
Ladies can be members of either or both organizations as long as they meet the eligibility requirements and pay the appropriate membership dues to each group. This membership entitles ladies to play at least once (in each association) at each of the six golf/country clubs that are participants in the SWGA and SSWGA groups: Bomber Bayou Golf Club, East Ridge Country Club, Huntington Park/Querbes Golf Clubs, Northwood Hills Golf Club, Golf Club at Stonebride, and Southern Trace Country Club.

Rules Seminar


On April 1st, the USGA hosted a Rules Seminar at Southern Trace. I didn't get an exact count of the number of our ladies that attended, but we were well represented. I believe we had about 16-20 SWGA members in attendance. The two-hour class was non-stop informational. It seems that no matter how many times you hear something, there is always this one rule that becomes an "Ah ha" moment. Maybe we just need to absorb the rules in small increments...or maybe it's just me and my small memory. But in any event, I felt enlightened....again. Thanks to Southern Trace for hosting the event.
