HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
With that said, it's time to kick off our new year of SWGA events. Our business meeting and luncheon will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 14th at the University Club. This will be the last time that we'll be meeting at this venue since the Club is closing on January 31. We have really enjoyed our meetings at that location and will miss it in the future.
If you've attended the meeting in the past, you know the purpose: business, new officers, great meal and wonderful socializing. For those of you who haven't attended in the past, please make plans to attend this meeting. We will talk about our 2010 achievements, saying goodbye to our old officers and hello to the new ones. New and old business will be discussed, so if you have any concerns, this is the forum in which to present them.
The cost of the luncheon this year will be $16, which includes tax and gratuity for a fabulous meal, including drinks (non-alcoholic) and delicious desserts. It is well worth the trip just for the food and it's a great time to visit with ladies you don't get to see very often....especially without their golf attire!
We need to give an accurate count to the University Club by January 11th, so please contact your Club Rep to let her know if you will be attending. I promise you, it will be worth your time and effort. Hope to see you there!

SWGA/SSWGA Jingle Bell
Who would have thought that on December 2nd we could play golf in 68 degree weather? It happened today and forty-six ladies enjoyed that lovely weather at our annual Jingle Bell Tournament held at Palmetto Country Club.
With a fabulous score of 63, First Place honors went to Team Ward (Bea Roach, Joanna Ward, Jimmie Zey, and Gayle Gansfuss).
Not far behind them and taking Second Place with a 67 score was Team Pettitt ( Shirley Pettitt, Linda Heins, Charlotte Calhoun, and Carolyn Phillips).
Then it got a little more complicated. There were three teams tied at 69. After a scorecard playoff, Team Essler won Third Place. (Tina Essler, Kathleen McCoy, Caroline Stevens, and Barbara Offer)
After the second scorecard playoff, Fourth Place went to Team Morgan (Cathy Morgan, Marge Snyder, Theresa Kruse, and Vien Wheeler).
The Fifth Place Team was Team Middleton (Joyce Middleton, Kay Swope, Linda Colvin, and Grace Ireland).
There were three Closest to the Pin Winners: Hole #3 at 14' 8" was Teri McGuire; Hole #11 at 6' 1" was Tommye Englecke; and Hole #17 at a mere 4' 1/2" was Jimmie Zey, and yes, they birdied the hole!
The Closest to the Straight Line award went to Jeanette Bohringer who was only about 12" off the line. Wow!
Congratulations to everyone who played today....not just the winners....because we are all winners when we get to participate in an event with 46 golfing friends who are such an important part of our lives.

This was the last event of the year for both SWGA and SSWGA. What a grand finale! Our next event is our Annual Business Meeting on January 14th at the University Club. At that luncheon, we elect new officers for 2011 and give out the special end-of-year awards. There will be more information coming on this event.
