The SWGA held its annual Turkey Scramble on November 6, at Huntington Park Golf Club. The ladies were treated to nice weather, good turnout, and good course conditions.

SSWGA Scramble at Huntington Park

The SSWGA group hosted a scramble event at Huntington Park Golf Course on October 19th. Twenty ladies participated in the fun event that took place with perfect weather and really good greens conditions. These are the results:

SSWGA Playday at Crooked Hollow

It was a heavy mist and absolutely NO roll, but twenty-one ladies braved the elements on August 10th for the SSWGA Playday at Crooked Hollow.  The day ended up sunny, but sweltering, kind of like the scores!

The low score of the day was 85 and was a tie between Cathy Buckley and Debbie Magee.  Good playing, ladies!  Overall low putts for the day was also a tie between Linda Colvin and Debbie Magee with a nice 29.  The greens were in great shape and rolled very true.

2017 SSWGA Championship

Huntington Park Golf Club was the venue of the Shreveport Senior Women's Golf Association Championship this year since Fox Run was unable to host the event as originally planned.  Summer was really in bloom for this event on July 26 and 27, with the heat index in triple digits, but the pairings of two- and three-somes really helped get everyone off the course in record times.

Debbie Magee (out of the Golf Club at Stonebridge) won the Champion trophy with her very fine scores of 84 and 83, which also secured the Medalist Award for the first day low score.  Congratulations to the new Champion!

Also taking home a trophy was Mary Gallagher (from the Fox Run Golf Club), winning the Super Senior Championship with her nice scores of 92 and 87, as well as the Most Accurate Drive on day one.  Congratulations Mary!
Huntington was in great condition and Pro Reg Adams went out of his way to accommodate the group of thirteen ladies that participated in the event, including opening the course for the championship on its normal "closed" day of Wednesday.  Thanks to the entire staff.

SWGA Playday at Eastridge

Wow! The hottest playday of the year thus far! But thirty-one ladies dug out their cooling towels and Florida water and "hung in" through the heat at the SWGA playday at Eastridge Country Club on July 18th.


The lowest gross score of the day was shared by three ladies: Lillian Granger, Brenda Graves, and Debbie Magee, all with a nice 85. Overall low puts was a beautiful 29 by Mary Gallagher. Would love to have seen that!

SSWGA Playday at Northwood

It was a hot day and a really cool course as the Shreveport Senior Women's Association were hosted by the Northwood ladies on Tuesday, July 11th. Nineteen ladies braved the heat to compete in the day's activities.

The low score of the day was 88 by Joyce Delauder of BWGA and overall low putts was 31 by Mary Gallagher of Fox Run.  Good golf, ladies!

The next SSWGA event will be the SSWGA Championship on July 26 and 27 and will be held at Huntington in lieu of Fox Run, due to the condition of the Fox Run course.  If you haven't already signed up, please do so as soon as possible.  The practice round can be played any day the week prior to the Championship.

SWGA Playday at Querbes

Unseasonably cool weather greeted the twenty-seven ladies who participated in the SWGA Playday at Querbes Park GC on June 7th. The course was in good condition, except for the clover, and the greens were unusually fast, but ran really true. The Beautification Committee has done a great job of "sprucing up" the course and the greens keeper has brought the greens a long way.


Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the SWGA group. And the course produced some nice low scores on Wednesday. The lowest gross score was an 80 by Shirley Pettitt, playing at her home course. She also had the lowest putts for the day with just 29, followed closely by Martha Lawhorne with 30. Good playing ladies!

SSWGA Playday at Querbes Park

May 31^st was the playday that was re-scheduled due to rain at Querbes Golf Club.  The Broadmoor ladies hosted the Shreveport Senior Women’s Golf Association at the newly “trimmed” course where the greens were in very good condition.  Can’t say the same for the amount of clover that was present, but we’re hoping that will soon be gone too.

 

The low score of the day was an 89 by Debbie Magee of Stonebridge.  Cheryl Smith, also of Stonebridge, figured out the greens speed real nicely with just 30 putts for the day.  Congratulations ladies!

SWGA Playday at Northwood

May 16^th and we still had beautiful, comfortable weather for our third SWGA event of the year, held at Northwood Hill Golf Club.  Course was in great shape and the hospitality was A+ as usual.  Great time for the forty-four ladies that turned out to make this a successful event.

2017 SWGA Annual Meeting/Luncheon

SWGA 2016 President Joyce Middleton hosted our annual meeting and luncheon at her home club Eastridge Country Club on January 13, 2017. Fifty-three ladies turned out to welcome the 2017 Officers and Reps, thank the 2016 group, congratulate the End-of-Year award winners, and socialize with each other in a way that can't be done while on the golf course.

After an outstanding lunch, the 2016 officers gave their respective reports and we were surprised and elated to end our year with a tad bit more money than we started with. Events Chairman Martha Lawhorne then presented the End-of-Year awards as follows:
