About Us....

The Shreveport Womens Golf Association was formed in 1933 for the purpose of promoting good fellowship and friendly competition among local amateur women golfers. Ladies in this association (SWGA) must have a handicap index of 30.0 or less.

Our sister group, the Shreveport Senior Womens Golf Association, was created for the same purpose, but includes only ladies who have reached at least their fiftieth birthday.
Ladies can be members of either or both organizations as long as they meet the eligibility requirements and pay the appropriate membership dues to each group. This membership entitles ladies to play at least once (in each association) at each of the six golf/country clubs that are participants in the SWGA and SSWGA groups: Bomber Bayou Golf Club, East Ridge Country Club, Huntington Park/Querbes Golf Clubs, Northwood Hills Golf Club, Golf Club at Stonebride, and Southern Trace Country Club.

NEXT PLAYDAY EVENTS

SSWGA Playday at Palmetto CC

What a beautiful day for golf at Palmetto Country Club after being rescheduled from the previous week when there was constant rain.  Forty ladies turned out to enjoy the lovely weather and great socializing.  The overall low gross player of the day was Jill Litton (NHGC) who shot an amazing 81, followed by Donna Cobb (BWGA) with a very nice 85.  Low Putts was Marge Snyder (NHGC) with just 28 putts!  Great playing ladies!

Because this playday had to be rescheduled, it resulted in back-to-back weeks with SSWGA playday.  Next week on April 3rd, we'll have our second SSWGA of the year at Southern Trace CC with a 9:00am shotgun start.  Let your club rep know if you plan to play asap.

Check out the right column for all flight winner results and enjoy the small slideshow presentation of candids.

LGA Score Posting

We've had a number of inquiries about the new LGA Site and how to get into the system to post a score or check to see if one has been posted.  This is information from Lee Rainwater of the Louisiana Golf Association.

If you EVER posted a score online using the OLD system, your username will be the same 8-digit number and your password will  be identical. If you NEVER posted a score online on the OLD system, you will still use the 8-digit number, but your password will be your last name. New LGA members will have various usernames and passwords, and it is the club's responsibility to relay that information when you sign up for LGA membership.

When golfers log-in for the first time, the system prompts you to change your username and password. The information you choose will be your credentials going forward.

If you have any problems, please call Lee at (337) 25-3938 at any time for assistance. You can also e-mail Lee at lrainwater@lgagolf.org

Hope this helps you with posting your scores from your home computer when necessary.  If you have any problems navigating around the site to find information, you can contact me (Kathleen McCoy) and I'll be glad to help you as much as possible.  If I were you, I wouldn't depend on my club to post my scores.  I've heard of many missing scores from using this practice.

20th Annual District Senior Olympics

The Northwest Louisiana District Senior Olympics hosts many, many events for seniors who will be 50 years of age by December 31, 2012.  One of those many events is the golfing competition which will take place on Friday, April 20th at Northwood Country Club.  All the events are open to men and women and there are numerous divisions in each event.  Just as in the Regular Olympics, winners receive Golf, Silver and Bronze Medals.  In addition, if certain scores are posted, participants can become eligible for the State Competition in Baton Rouge, which leads to the National Competition.

To participate in the NWLA District events, you must pay a $15 General Entry Fee which allows you to participate in as many events as you choose, some of which have additional costs attached.  One of those is the golfing event, which requires an additional $35 fee.  The General Entry Fee gets you a 2012 Senior Olympics Tee shirt as well as various other "goodies" depending on the events you choose.  The golfing event also includes a really nice luncheon and awards ceremony.

The deadline for most events is April 13.  To get much more information and an entry form, go to the NWLA Senior Olympics site and download the information.  Sign up and have lots of fun!

Playday at East Ridge Country Club

What a beautiful day to kick off our 2012 golfing season as forty-eight ladies participated in the playday at East Ridge CC on Thursday, March 15th.  Many ladies adorned St. Patrick's Day green which matched the beautiful new growth on the course, and everyone demonstrated high spirits for this first outing of the year.

The results of the playday are listed in the right column and you will notice there were MANY ties.  Overall low gross for the day went to Suzanne Tinsley with a whopping 86, followed by Shirley Pettitt and Marianne Leslie with matching 89's.   Low Net was Brenda Graves who also took overall low putts with just 28.

The next SWGA Playday will be at Querbes Park Golf Club on April 26 with a 9:00am shotgun start.  Forty-eight ladies now have 100% participation, so let's strive to keep it going.  Sign up for Querbes.
