Seventy degree weather and a beautiful course: what a combination! This event is traditionally held as our kick-off event by playing a scramble to get a little of the “rust” off the game. And everyone loves a scramble. This was no exception. We heard more laughter and “fun sounds” than ever. A chip-in to save a bogey was as fun as a birdie!
Two first place teams scored 67, followed by two more that tied for second with a 68. That’s some good golf! Did I mention “rusty”? There was no rust there!
And our new charity for the year, Woody’s Home for Vets, scored just as great with a pile of goodies that were delivered to the home after play on Tuesday. The vets and management were thrilled with our contributions and you should feel a great feeling of pride in being a part of this first SWGA donation. We’re hoping other groups will join in the experience of helping others and “making a difference”.
Our next SWGA event will be a stroke play event on April 18th hosted by the Broadmoor ladies at Huntington Park Golf Club. We’ll keep you updated on the most needed items for Woody’s as we get closer to that date.
