About Us....

The Shreveport Womens Golf Association was formed in 1933 for the purpose of promoting good fellowship and friendly competition among local amateur women golfers. Ladies in this association (SWGA) must have a handicap index of 30.0 or less.

Our sister group, the Shreveport Senior Womens Golf Association, was created for the same purpose, but includes only ladies who have reached at least their fiftieth birthday.
Ladies can be members of either or both organizations as long as they meet the eligibility requirements and pay the appropriate membership dues to each group. This membership entitles ladies to play at least once (in each association) at each of the six golf/country clubs that are participants in the SWGA and SSWGA groups: Bomber Bayou Golf Club, East Ridge Country Club, Huntington Park/Querbes Golf Clubs, Northwood Hills Golf Club, Golf Club at Stonebride, and Southern Trace Country Club.

SSWGA Playday at Huntington Park

It was a hot, but beautiful, day on the course at Huntington Park Golf Club whose ladies’ BWGA hosted the SSWGA’s playday on May 30th.  Twenty-two ladies participated and enjoyed the great condition of the course and the hospitality of the Huntington staff.  Of the twenty-two, only eight were in the regular Senior Flight, while fourteen were super seniors (70 years old+).
 
The overall low gross score of the day was a really nice 81 by regular senior Daneita Adams (BWGA), helped by her two birdie holes.  Good golf Daneita!  Overall low net in that division was a tie of 70 by Nancy Young (BWGA) and Vickie Cella (NLGA).  Low putts was 35 by Cathy Buckley (BWGA).
Overall low gross in the super senior division was an 88 by Joyce Middleton (ERLCA) while low net was a 69 by Gayle Gansfuss (NLGA).  Low putts was an amazing 28 by Jan Crowe (BWGA).  Congratulations ladies!
Thanks to those who contributed to the Woody’s Home for Vets charity, including $20 cash from those who forgot their “goods”.  It will be well used I’m sure.
Our next SSWGA Playday isn’t until July 9th at Northwood Hills.  You’ll get a reminder before then.

SWGA Playday at Stonebridge

Sorry about the delay in posting the results of the SWGA Stonebridge Playday, but I was out of town immediately after the playday. Trying to catch up now.
What can I say? It was a wonderful day at Stonebridge on May 21st and the course was beautiful. Thirty-one ladies enjoyed the hospitality and socializing. We thank the ladies golf group and management for making it a fun and successful event.




Because Stonebridge has the extra set of tees (gray) for the ladies, we took advantage of that benefit and allowed the ladies 70 and over to play from those tees, using the appropriate course handicap for those tees.
And for the results.....
The overall Low Gross for the day was a super nice 80 by Lillian Granger (STCC) which was five strokes better than her closest competitors Gina Lewis O'Neal (WGAS) and Brenda Graves (BLGA) who had matching 85's. Good golfing, ladies!
Overall Low Net was a 64 by Julie Butterfield (BLGA). Now THAT'S some stroking it!!! And speaking of stroking it, Overall low putts was just 29 by Gayle Gansfuss (NLGA). Congratulations!

Once again, we collected necessities for our Woody's Home for Vets Charity and we received a sweet thank you from them.



Our next SWGA playday is at Northwood on June 11th....just over two weeks away!
