About Us....

The Shreveport Womens Golf Association was formed in 1933 for the purpose of promoting good fellowship and friendly competition among local amateur women golfers. Ladies in this association (SWGA) must have a handicap index of 30.0 or less.

Our sister group, the Shreveport Senior Womens Golf Association, was created for the same purpose, but includes only ladies who have reached at least their fiftieth birthday.
Ladies can be members of either or both organizations as long as they meet the eligibility requirements and pay the appropriate membership dues to each group. This membership entitles ladies to play at least once (in each association) at each of the six golf/country clubs that are participants in the SWGA and SSWGA groups: Bomber Bayou Golf Club, East Ridge Country Club, Huntington Park/Querbes Golf Clubs, Northwood Hills Golf Club, Golf Club at Stonebride, and Southern Trace Country Club.

Green Team Retains Crown

It was a close match today in the Best Ball competition between the Blue East Team and the Green West Team. The Green Team needed only 6 points to retain the championship, but the Blue Team nearly succeeded in taking it away. Green scored 6 1/2 points today while Blue won 7 1/2. A great competition!!

Even the weather cooperated with us. Only the groups that had to play 16-18 holes of golf actually got a bit wet, but their spirits were not dampened one bit. Everyone seemed to enjoy the event again this year. We're already looking forward to next year.

Thanks to Jill Litton for working so hard to make this a great tournament. Thanks to Shirley Pettitt for supplying the "green hankies" used in the victory celebration. And thanks too to Donna Cobb who led the pep rally for the Blue Team this morning. What can I say? GO GREEN!!! (Check out the Day 2 slideshow in the right column.)
