About Us....

The Shreveport Womens Golf Association was formed in 1933 for the purpose of promoting good fellowship and friendly competition among local amateur women golfers. Ladies in this association (SWGA) must have a handicap index of 30.0 or less.

Our sister group, the Shreveport Senior Womens Golf Association, was created for the same purpose, but includes only ladies who have reached at least their fiftieth birthday.
Ladies can be members of either or both organizations as long as they meet the eligibility requirements and pay the appropriate membership dues to each group. This membership entitles ladies to play at least once (in each association) at each of the six golf/country clubs that are participants in the SWGA and SSWGA groups: Bomber Bayou Golf Club, East Ridge Country Club, Huntington Park/Querbes Golf Clubs, Northwood Hills Golf Club, Golf Club at Stonebride, and Southern Trace Country Club.

Palmetto Classic

Forty-four 2-lady teams did some "Swingin' in the Swamp" at the annual Palmetto Classic on April 26-28th.  We had a weather swing that started with heat, followed by tornadoes in the area, gale force winds on the first day, and a really chilly start of a beautiful day on the final day. 

As usual, the Palmetto ladies put on a great tournament and the course was in wonderful shape in spite of the weather.  We had 17 local-lady teams, and of those, we had 8 winning teams!!!  The overall winners were Mary Jo Gray and Suzanne Tinsley, both out of Stonebridge CC.  They shot a smooth 72 on the first day of best ball, tied with Tina Essler and Shirley Pettitt of Broadmoor.  On the second day, they ended the scramble with a 71 on the scorecard, beating the Broadmoor ladies by three strokes total.  Congratulations to all of you winners!
