About Us....

The Shreveport Womens Golf Association was formed in 1933 for the purpose of promoting good fellowship and friendly competition among local amateur women golfers. Ladies in this association (SWGA) must have a handicap index of 30.0 or less.

Our sister group, the Shreveport Senior Womens Golf Association, was created for the same purpose, but includes only ladies who have reached at least their fiftieth birthday.
Ladies can be members of either or both organizations as long as they meet the eligibility requirements and pay the appropriate membership dues to each group. This membership entitles ladies to play at least once (in each association) at each of the six golf/country clubs that are participants in the SWGA and SSWGA groups: Bomber Bayou Golf Club, East Ridge Country Club, Huntington Park/Querbes Golf Clubs, Northwood Hills Golf Club, Golf Club at Stonebride, and Southern Trace Country Club.

Wine & Roses Tournament

Alexandria Country Club hosted the Wine & Roses tournament on April 14 & 15th with some of the best weather we've golfed in for awhile. It was a full field for the two-lady scramble, and once again, we had six SWGA members who participated (Mary Coker, Donna Cobb, Christina Parsons, Gayle Gansfuss, Moise Allen, Kathleen McCoy):


Of those, we had one set of winners. Donna Cobb and Kathleen McCoy (that would be me) won first place in our flight with a score of 76. We were ecstatic to win. It would have been wonderful fun, even without the win, but that Dillards Gift Card made it even better.

If you've never been to one of the Wine & Roses tournaments, you've missed alot of good entertainment, wine, and good food. At the awards luncheon, there are all sorts of homemade cakes that everyone gets to sample, not to mention the wine, which everyone gets as a gift. Check out some of these cakes:
