Rally for the Cure Tournament
2019 SSWGA Senior Champion
Brenda Graves of Bomber Bayou GC, won the Senior Championshp title of the SSWGA on November 5 and 6 at East Ridge CC with scores of 83/79. Great playing Brenda!
2019 SSWGA Super Senior Champion
On November 5 and 6, East Ridge CC hosted the SSWGA Championship. Gayle Gansfuss (NLGA) won by one stroke with scores of 98/94. Great golf Gayle!
2019 SWGA Champion
Mary Lynn Stuart won the SWGA Championship after a sudden death playoff at Southern Trace CC on July 24 and 25. She had scores of 86/77. This is Mary Lynn's tenth time to earn Champion status. Congratulations!
2019 BWGA Club Champion
On October 28 and 29, the BWGA held its annual championship at Huntington Park GC. The two days of stroke play ended with Cathy Buckley winning her third championship (2019, 2017 and 2013). She had scores of 93 and 90. Good golf Cathy....again!

Joyce Middleton had her THIRD Hole in One on October 23, 2018, while playing at Eastride CC (her home course) on hole #9, 120 yards with her 9 iron. Witnesses were Debbie Rolland and Ricky Blair. Congratulations Joyce!

Audrey Northcutt made her first hole in one on October 18, 2018, during the BWGA playday scramble at Huntington Park GC on hole #9. Witnessing the event was Nina Glorioso, Kyong Lee, and Linda Ray. Congratulations Audrey!

Daneita Adams (BWGA) made her first hole in one on July 19, 2018, on Hole #16 a Huntington Park Golf Course, with a 94 yard shot. It was witnessed by Martha Lawhorne, Christy Guidry, and Kyong Lee. Congratulations, Daneita!

Christy Guidry made her first hole in one on July 7, 2018, while playing at Bring Hurst Golf Course in Alexandria, LA, the oldest par 3 course in America. Her HIO was 92 yards. Congratulations Christy!

Donna Ihle made her first hole in one while playing at Stonebridge on May 25, 2018. She was playing with Jane Smith as he holed out from the gray tees on Hole #17. Congratulations Donna!

Mary Moore of Fox Run, got her first hole in one during a tournament in Paris, TX, on June 24, 2017. It was a 131 yard shot with her 5 iron. Congratulations Mary.

Becky Farr had a hole in one on August 12, 2016, at her home club of StoneBridge on Hole #3. Her friends Paulette Lee, Gloria Utley, and Linda Heins were there to witness the accomplishment. This was Becky's second HIO. Congratulations!

Eleanor "Miss Ellie" Mibeck (April 21, 1926 - June 17, 2014) Miss Ellie was a fiery Italian lady, the last remaining of seven siblings. She had three daughters and three grandchildren. She had many hobbies, including cooking and golf and she was good at both. She started golfing at the age of 13 and in her career, had three Hole in ones. Although she was a member of various country clubs through the years, her most recent association was the Fox Run Golf Club at Barksdale AFB. She definitely leaves a void in their membership. She will be missed by all.
Shirley Pittman-Chandler, 74 years young, died on February 2, 2013, after suffering a stoke a few weeks earlier. Shirley was a talented, avid, long time golfer and a member of the Palmetto Womens' Golf Association for about 30 years, where she won their club championship in 2001 and the Handicap Champion in 2006. She also was a member of the Shreveport Womens Golf Association for a number of years, competing in the SWGA Team Matches back when only a select few participated each year. Shirley will be missed by her entire golfing family.

Sarah "Pete" Spurgin (September 5, 1928 - October 17, 2010) Pete was born in Shreveport, LA; graduated from Byrd High School; attended LSU at Baton Rouge; and graduated from Centenary College with a degree in Psychology and History. Although she was 82 when she died, Pete had the spirit and livliness of a 30 year old. She wore the purple of Eastridge Country Club proudly. Pete was not only a champion of many golf tournaments, she was a champion in her life. She left this final request: "To those with whom I played and to those with whom I worked, you know the rest, and I enjoyed my time with you. So if you wish to remember me, sit on a porch somewhere and have a cold one...." We'll remember Pete for a long, long time....
Tessie "Jean" Evans (July 9, 1937 - February 4, 2010). Jean, who was a native of W. Virginia, made Shreveport her home for her last 33 years. She was a member of the Broadmoor Women's Golf Assn. where she served as Treasurer; President of the Westwood Ladies Golf Assn.; member of the Shreveport Women's Golf Assn. as well as the Shreveport Senior Women's Golf Assn. Jean's favorite saying was "Golf forever....housework, whenever".
Joy Farley (May 4, 1938 - August 22, 2009). Joy, born in Ashland, LA, was a golfer for over thirty years, having been a member at Eastridge CC as well as Palmetto CC. She was a member of the Palmetto Ladies Golf Assn, Shreveport Women's Golf Assn., and the Shreveport Senior Women's Golf Assn. In addition, she was an avid bowler and she loved card games. She will be missed by her many golfing friends.
Nikki Doris Patterson (December 29, 1943 - April 18, 2009). Nikki was a great golfer and loved the game. In 2005 she was the Shreveport Women's Golf Assn. Champion, the Broadmoor Women's Golf Assn. Champion, and the Stonebridge Women's Golf Association Champion. In 2006, she repeated as Champion at Stonebridge Golf Club and won again at Broadmoor in 2007. Immediately after her death, Stonebridge had its inaugural Nikki Patterson Invitational Scramble which was a tremendous success.
