Sixty-three of Louisiana's golfers met at the Farm d'Allie Golf Club in Carencro, LA on April 12-13 for the stroke play tournament. We were pleased to have seven SWGA ladies participate in the event (Kathleen McCoy, Gayle Gansfuss, Teri McGuire, Donna Cobb, Joyce Middleton, Phyllis Ryan, and Martha Lawhorne). Of those seven, we had two winners: Gayle Gansfuss and Martha Lawhorne.
Gayle (ERCC) won 1st Low Net in the Second Flight with a two day total of 136 and Martha (BWGA) won 2nd Low Net in the Third Flight with a total of 146. Congratulations to both ladies!!!
The 2010 LWGA Senior Champion is Grace Purvis who had two-day gross scores of 81 and 76. For the first time this year, we also had a Super Senior Champion and that was Corre Stegall with rounds of 82 and 82. Great golfing! There is a slideshow presentation of this event in the right column.
The next LWGA State event is the State Amateur Championship, a match-play event that starts on June 19th at the Koasati Pines Golf Club in Kinder, LA. This is a great event for all skill levels. Think of this: you can score a 12 on a hole and still WIN! There is a winners' bracket as well as a consolation bracket, so there are several ways to win. Deadline for entries is June 12.
