The Northwest Louisiana Senior Olympics Golf competition was the first of many different events held each year in the Shreveport area. Unfortunately, only four ladies participated this year on April 23rd at the Crooked Hollow Golf Course.
It was a wet day, but the spirits weren't dampened. In fact, we understand that at some point the horn was blown to call in golfers due to lightening. When our foursome of ladies finished our round, we were told that when the horn was blown, the ladies were the only ones that didn't come in. Susan Berry told them "It was raining so hard we didn't hear the horn." And she was right, at least about not hearing it. The senior guys went in and then had to resume play. Needless to say, the ladies finished the round alot earlier than all the guys.
Winning the gold medal was Donna Cobb (83); the silver, Kathleen McCoy (89); and the bronze, Bobbie Almond (99). Susan Berry was in 4th place with her 100. But the good news is that
all four ladies qualified to play in the State competition later in the year.
I know. I know. You're saying "these lovely ladies are waaaay too young to be in the SENIOR OLYMPICS!"
